Job Description:

• Collaborates with programming staff to design, create, document, test and maintain College websites.
• Manages vendors who perform work for College websites.
• Develops and maintains standards for programming code quality and security.
• Consults with staff and faculty of the College to determine website requirements and scope.
• Provides training and support on web technologies to staff and faculty.
• Manages web projects, staff, and timelines.
• Recruits, trains, mentors, and manages professional web staff and student assistants.
• Verifies work performed meets standards for quality and security.
• Coordinates with other campus IT units that provide related networking and hosting services.
• Collaborates closely with partner units on processes and procedures.
• Designs new systems, features, and tools. Solves complex problems and identifies opportunities for technical improvement and performance optimization. Reviews and tests code to ensure appropriate standards are met.
• Acts as a technical consultant and resource for faculty research, teaching, and/or administrative projects.
• Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelorâ™s degree.

Experience:

• Professional experience with web technologies such as HTML, PHP, CSS, C#, SQL, and JavaScript or jQuery.
• Experience working in Drupal 7 and 8/9 including custom module development.
• Familiarity with Drupal theming and templating, mobile development, and responsive design.
• Experience with revision control systems such as Subversion and Git.

• Sufficiently broad and deep technical knowledge to understand and deal with all technical issues involved in large web-based applications or the demonstrated ability to work well with technical staff to identify and successfully address issues in areas beyond own technical expertise.
• Effectively hire, motivate, supervise, develop, and evaluate professional IT staff and foster strong team cohesion.
• Convey complex information in a clear and concise way to individuals with varying levels of technical expertise.
• Strong project management and troubleshooting skills.

Working Conditions

• This position is based in Chicago, but is eligible for some hybrid (remote/in person).
