I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.
I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

IT Senior Associate
CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Brooklyn College is currently accepting applications for an IT Senior Associate, Level 1 position in the Department of Information Technology Services. Reporting to the Database Systems Manager, the IT Senior Associate, level 1 duties incude but are not limited to the following:
Completes assigned complex projects in area(s) of technical expertise.
Resolves complex problems in area of expertise with little or no supervision, notifying others according to department procedure.
Explains problem resolutions to others and instructs others in implementing them.
Engages in developing and ensuring security procedures for computer software, networks, and data.
Serves as a technical resource in all aspects of assigned systems, networks and technologies.
Demonstrates an understanding of, and adheres to, systems methodologies, quality control and performance standards, and work methods established in unit.
Develops new features and user interfaces from wireframes for the Android and iOS platforms.
Ensures the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
Identifies and corrects bottlenecks and fixes bugs.
Writes clean, readable, and testable code.
Works with back-end developers to deliver well-architected and high-quality solutions.
Helps maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
Investigates user experience design requirements for web and mobile applications.
Produces high-quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes.
Designs UI elements and tools such as navigation menus, search boxes, tabs, and widgets for our digital assets.
Testing UI elements such as CTAs, banners, page layouts, page designs, page flows, and target links for landing pages.
Providing advice and guidance on the implementation of UX research methodologies and testing activities.
Adhering to style standards on typography and graphic design.
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
Expertise coding for and/or maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases, Oracle and MYSQL databases
Experience using the CAS authentication system
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.
If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification. Employees are also offered pension and Tax-Deferred Savings Plans. Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
